How to Shutdown your PC using Only a Cell Phone  ?

The things you will need are............................


  1. Microsoft Office Outlook 2007 or 2003                                  
  2. Email account ( Gmail preferred most)                                        
  3. A "Kwiry" account 
  4. A cell phone capable of sending text messages or emails 
STEP 1 :  Business with the notepad.

  1. Open a note pad from the start menu
  2. In the pad write "c:\windows\system32\shutdown -s -f -t 00"
Where   -s means shutdown
              -f means to force it
              -t 00  means set the timer to zero second

      3. Then save this file anywhere you can remember as "shutdown.pc".

STEP 2 :  Email accounts

If you don't have a POP3 capable email account then signup for a Google account .Or if you have G mail account which is also linked to Microsoft Office Outlook then you can carry out with the process.
                                                     
                                


STEP 3 :  Organize Outlook

In this step Microsoft Office Outlook is put to action. (I prefer to use Outlook 2007 Cause it is more user friendly and is used more at homes. 
  1. Start > Microsoft Office Outlook 2007
  2. tools > account settings > Double click on the name or create a new one.
  3. Fill the form > More setting... > (enable)Outgoing server > Advance > and make sure the " incoming sever POP3 is set to : 995
  4. And click check the other remaining boxes in advance as well.
  5. Next > Finish

STEP 4 : Kwiry account

Sign up for a "Kwiry" account but currently the "Kwiry" website seems to be out of date it wont work for some reason.



Kwiry allows to send text messages which can be recieved us as email ( cool huh ).


STEP 5 : Setting a rule in Outlook




  1. Tools > Send/Receive > Send/Receive settings > Define Send/Receive groups / OR /   1. Hold (CTRL+ ALT + S .)
  2. Check schedule an automatic Send/Receive every ...: 1 minute so that it checks for new emails every minute > Close.
  3. Now go to Tools > Rules and Alerts > New rule > Start from a blank rule > check the messages when they arrive.
  4. Next > Specific words in the subject > specific words 
  5. In the 1st blank type : "Your pc - shutdown" > Add > Next
  6. Check start application > Click application and select the program "shutdown.pc" which you saved.
  7. Next > Finish > Apply > OK.
STEP 6 : Send the message.

You can send the message from Kwiry to the relevant fields you filled in or you can log from your phone to a another email account of yours and send an email saying " Shutdown " as the text and the subject as 
"Your pc - shutdown" and send it to the email account which you related with Outlook 2007.

FINALLY

Your PC will shut down in a minute as the outlook gets the message.Thank you.
